Tommy (Common Knowledge)
He was surrendered quite skinny, with weight gain issues and we soon realised he had ulcers and started him on treatment and he gained weight well. Tommy was placed in our Track to Hack program and prepared to be assessed under saddle for a future as a riding horse. However, it became apparent quite quickly that Tommy was having issues when he exercised and he was diagnosed with anhydrosis - a condition where the horse loses its ability to sweat. This is a real problem in the sub tropical climate in Queensland and Tommy has to be carefully monitored in the summer. Tommy has been put on herbs which have helped him through our hot summer and he has shown signs of sweat patches on his body.
Ideally we would like to see Tommy find a forever home in a cooler climate as a loving companion to another horse and his own human.
